 Aloha cats, As some of you know Im preparing for a trip to the mainland where I will be training and exploring land for 3 months. While the weekly classes will continue uninterrupted, I wanted to leave you with an learning experience before leave. Here is a rough outline of what I got in mind.
Parkour Workshop - Beginner and Intermediate. Sunday May 20th 10am - 3/3:30pm 4pm bbq/pot luck and free play. 2hrs-lunch-2hrs-bbq Location: Ala Moana Beach Park Meeting Spot - White Pillars Cost: $30 We will be selling shirts on this day for $10 only. This work shop will be designed to go over some of the most basic fundamental of parkour such as; - Understanding of Parkour History, philosophy, training mindset. Why Parkour? Injury Prevention. Community - Leave No Trace - Safety Assessment. - Prepping the body/mind for movement Importance of warm up, conditioning, drilling movement. - Baby Steps Locomotion, crawling, coordination, monkey play. - Parkour Movement Techniques, repetition, functionality, linking techniques, flow, efficiency, control, knowing your limits. - Touch and sensitivity Ninja Training - Learning to absorb and withstand impact with your body rather than joints, light touch, stealth, energy preservation. - Creativity thru movement Using the environment as a way of exploring your creativity. Play and exploration. Making your own routes, choosing your own obstacles. Freeing yourself. - Conditioning thru movement No more gym membership, You can go out and use your environment to work out while building natural and functional skills. How to recognize opportunities for movement. - Breaking Jumps Understanding and facing fears, canalizing fears, visualization, using fear rather then fearing fear itself. - Slowing down. Importance of cooling down, stretching, mental and physical assessment. Recovery time. - Body, mind and spirit. Applying parkour to daily life.
